Dr. Wendolyn Slattery

Dr. Wendolyn Slattery graduated from the University of Minnesota Medical School in 1999. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Hennepin County Medical Center before becoming a fellow in Infectious Diseases at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. From there she settled in at Mercy Hospital in Minneapolis and worked several years as their Infectious Disease doctor while leading many quality initiatives. In 2019, she was awarded the Travis/Carr Award, the highest honor given to a practicing physician for leadership and excellence.

Wendy grew up on a farm in the Red River Valley, near Fargo, North Dakota during the late 1950’s, a time when women were confined to predetermined roles. Her childhood aspiration of becoming a doctor, inspired by her animal friends, was discouraged. She graduated from North Dakota State University during the tumultuous years of the 1970s without a clear goal, but fortuitously ended up in the computer industry when it was exploding.

She was forty-six years old when she finally ACHIEVED her dream of becoming a doctor.
